Well sorry, but it didn't happen.

All excited today, I went out to Point Leo to experience the best conditions I've had in ages - slight off shore wind and 2 - 4 foot reforming waves. Rigged up my camera to the cheap gps holder suction cup thingo that I bought a couple of weeks back turned on the video and paddled to the break.

For most of the 5 minute video the camera strap covered the camera lens, then I went over my first wave and the cheap gps suction cup holder basically exploded. I didn't lose my camera so I guess it wasn't all bad.

I've just gone to ebay and lashed out and bought a heavy duty one like everyone else. Hopefully the next video will work.

Sorry Oli ... but I laughed.

I had a feeling the GPS holder might not cut it.

Don't give up ... I'm sure it'll be great when you get it wired.

Oliver..I also thought the camera/gps holder was a bit suss...Glad you ordered the heavy duty orange dent puller..It's as solid as.

I've also got an old orange plastic helmet (skydiving helmet I think) that I bought before Gath helmets came out and I can also mount my camera on that..

Sounds like you had a great day at Crunchies today.

There were a lot of people out there today - really nice crowd though. Quite a few women surfing, a dad and his two kids, a goat boarder, another stand up guy, and a mixture of others - old and young - it was a really nice atmosphere.

Conditions are looking pretty good for tomorrow DJ. Bring that helmet of yours and be sure to wear your crocs if you decide to hit Crunchies tomorrow. I'm thinking that look may just catch on. Anyway, let's see how the day pans out.

I've still got my gorillapod so I should still be able to capture all the fashion and action.

Oliver, make sure you get drunk before buying anything on ebay. That seems to work best for you...
