Are you thinking of going in the morning Oliver, looks like it will be very windy. I was thinking of Pt Roadnight, might be a bit more sheletered.

I'm thinking of hitting little noosa real early. The swell is real big so should be good waves on the inside there which should be the most protected area. I guess it all depends on the wind direction early.

You know where else would be good Oli in winds like this!

How you going Oliver, you've been a little quite of late
By the sound of things, your mad keen surfing your Strocker!
Just interested if you have changed your SUP mind, from flat
water to mainly surf, and if so how does the Strocker go in the
surf?

This swell is a bit scary for my limited experience and besides I've got work on tomorrow. I've got Friday off and will head down to Inverloch for the w/e The swell should die down and hopefully the winds will come off. Eagles Nest is perfectly protected from SW - NW of almost any strength, which ties in well with the high tides foretasted for early in the morning - which tends to limit the crowds down to one or two. Tomorrow should be great down at little Noosa early as long as the wind hasn't got too much kick in it. I'd love to surf Balnarring Point when the swell is like this. Here's a pic of it when it's working.

I really haven't been out that much on the board this summer. Been really busy at work and most week ends the weather have been crap for months. If I have a choice between flat and surf I go for the surf. Absolutely loving the stonker though.

Hey thanks Oliver, did you save one when I was riding a wave?
I think it breaks out of shot anyway.
Was a fun session inside there well sheltered from the winds.

Little Noosa, it should be much bigger than this tomorrow but not as clean.

It rarely will look like this mac. This area, only really works when the ocean swell is 2m+ as it's inside a bay. Now the swell is about 6m but it's as windy as all hell:

No sorry,

But I saw you down the bottom of there - great spot on a high tide and also protected from the S/W. Love how the waves continually reform. I noticed that the wind wasn't that strong and was blowing directly from the West around that time - good timing to be there then Camo.

Hey Mac, yeah it offers good long rides and the swell has to be massive everywhere else before it gets to a good size. It's pretty gutless under 2' but once it gets that little bit bigger you can get some good turns. It's really well protected on the inside but can be a bit bumpy on the outside when the wind is Sth which is often around when we get big swell.

Go to google maps and search "cliff road shoreham" and it is the point at the end of the road. The reef to the screen right is Honeysuckle which is a way better wave but not protected and the reef/point screen left is the Pines, a right hander suited to mals with a fun left off the point.

BTW, we just had an average 5.51m swell with a peak at 8.58m with 14 to 16 second intervals at the real bouy which is absolutely massive. Crunchies now would be WAY over head high, probably double overhead.

Cam, i'll meet you down there just before 7am if you're keen! Oli?

I recently came across a great little site where I borrowed/stole most of these photos. Lot's of historical info also. It's a little ugly to look at and slow to load but gives you a pretty good idea of my closest surfing options - all about an hour 10mins from the cbd when the traffic is good.

hoaxcoast.tripod.com/

go to the western port link for more info on the area and it's breaks

I'd love to go tomorrow but I've still got heaps to do. Can't wait for Friday - I reckon the wind won't kick in untill about 9:00am - you should have a great day. It's so rare that it gets this big, be surprised if you don't find a good sheltered spot - good luck.

Hey Brendan... do you know spot X? hoaxcoast.tripod.com/spot_x.htm

Cheers Bnaccas, so where is it in relation to the CBD?
My sister lived down in Pattersen Lakes and I used to
travel to Mel-vegas a few times a year for work!
I met a family last year in Noosa QLD and they were
from PT LEO ?

Mac, From Patto Lakes it's about 35 to 40 minutes and is just past Pt Leo. Instead of turning at PtLeo road you go straight for about 3 minutes and then turn off down Beach Road. You park at the start of the car park and walk to the left.

Oli, I know of 2 spots that have been called "Spot X" and the one in the pix looks like it's the left to the right of Suicide (Pt Leo point). It still works now with the right swell direction but can get a bit scetchy as the tide drops.

I rekon the photo's have just been taken from the lookout with a good lens.

The other Spot X I surfed but I think they just got lazy and abreviated it dropping the "hoa" from Spot hoaX. It was crap the couple time I surfed it.

Hey Windy, yeah that would have been Crunchies. You get Hobie cats out there as well plus kyaks, canoes, out riggers. It attracts all sorts!

Cammo, surfed Shelly this arvo. Was really good. When the tide filled in I got a couple head high. Got plenty of waves without being a hog. Right Pt was a solid 4' to 5' on the sets but a bit too busy.

Ended up going to the Pines this morning and when I got there it was blowing
southerly 1 to 2 ft crap so I should of taken your advice Brendan and headed to Shelly's Beach.Picked up the Uber Fish yesterday arvo so was keen just for a try out paddle anyway and ended up with some fun rides for the conditions[crap] and impressed with the new board.
Cheers, camo.

Cheers Dj very Impressed with your and the lads downwinder the other day, I was thinking of you guys, when after I surfed this spot, It is way too hard to get down the cliff with a sub, so we paddle down from another beach. Fine on the way down with the wind at your back and your fresh and keen, but on the way home into 25 knot head wind on a 9 6" after 3hrs in the surf, took us 15 mins to paddle down and 45 minutes to paddle home
