swell came up yesterday

started out with a crap east 1 foot slop then changed late in the arvo to some nice south lines around 5 to 6 foot
sat on the headland and watched it till dark talking to some old fishos as the break out the back of the bay started to line up

woke up this morning a dawn drove the old land rover to the headland with the heater cranking to check the swell the wind was straight offshore and the swell hand jumpped up to 10 foot with the odd monster set looked slightly bumpy from last nights wind

sat there for 15 mins with the heater still peak reving one of the old fishos walked up to me and said go on get out there the wind will come up soon

so quickly dragged the wetty on and started the long paddle out through the bay then around the island then over a few lumps of swell it looked a bit bigger at water level than from the headland so i paddled way wide of the line up and watched a set unload on the take off about 800m further out wow blood started to pump

ended up getting nailed by some weird wide pushing sets a good test for the old leggie and said to myself thats nothing just dont get caught again

got out to the take off and looked around to get myself lined up with acouple of rocks and a house on the headland check!!!

watched a few nice looking ones crank through and paddled into one
lots of bumps and lumps as i dropped in but got cleaner down the line
rode it for about 400m then kicked out

caught a few more then the wind started to kick in so caught another which turned out to be one of the longest waves ive had out there all the way through past the island and the inside bowl to the flat water of the opening of the bay about 800m then paddled across to the main beach caught a couple of straight hand closeouts went in and walked back up to the bay and the trusty old land rover

past the fisho as i drove home and he gave me the thumbs up by the time his story goes around my sleepy little town by the end of the day it will go like this

that young bloke paddled out the back of fullers rocks on his gonderlier and got barrelled all the way to the beach and kicked out on the sand 3 points down the coast

gotta love those old fishos and there stories they just keep getting bigger and bigger and bigger

swell must be nice at the goldy the wind looks good for the points im so coming up soon to hit it one day and have a paddle with some other sup ers gets lonely by myself down here

yo brooko ive been only wearing a wetty in the mornings for the wind chill the water up here has been warm until the last week but still wearing shorts and a wetty top during the day and cooking like a pig on a spit
been riding the naish 10'6 and pushing the fin back for 6 foot plus other wise i ride it as far as i can get it forward to loosen the big bitch up

yo just wrong back to work that sucks work for me has slowed up so trying to get in as much as possible before my next big job
soooo coming up for a drive to bomb the points soon may be the next swell that hits gotta get some roof racks for the new navara as the old land rover only goes 70 km/hr peak revin take me 6 weeks to get there but the old bitch charges through the soft sand better than any other car hands down
its pulled alot of new 4wds out of the sh@t

last weekend me and a mate went for a paddle from minnie water to the wooli river and up the river to the pub looked on goggle earth and worked out it was about 20 kms surf i surfed the whole way down the coast on the naish 10'6 while he paddled my missus naish 11'6 with a camel back and food so much fun checking out all the surf breaks along the way

Think i will wait til swell drops down abit. Sat or Sun is looking good for up here. I am dreaming about the 9'6 now!!
I don't fanny my chances of bottom turning my 11'6 in this swell but the 9'6 will be sweet i'm sure.

Hey justwrong,
Yep jacko spent most of his day at currumbin yesterday, you can't chop trees in the rain. I think he and billy got some gem rides together.

Hope you all get out today. Jacko should have the 9'6 down there this arvo, should be a great test for it in this swell.

funny thing is it worked when i dumped the footage of some small waves onto my computer but a week later went to dump the big stuff off it wouldnt play the game
