i think i got my paddle a wee bit to long....

i 've heard the genral rule of length for paddles is 8'' above ur noggin,,

is that for flat water.....

is there a guide line for waves

i'm getting the whole blade and some; under the water at the deepest part of the stoke....

just want make sure b4 i take a saw to the shaft

IMO... Approx.. 10" over for flat and 8" over for waves.

I think there's so many variables that there's no golden rule.

Try a shorter one first if you can.
I have cut my wifes down, feels real short for me but worked fine out at boatramps after I snapped mine Wednesday.

Hey Hilly

What do you ride boatramps on? Your 11'2" or 9'8"?

I turn the paddle upside down want the blade to start at my eyebrows. So it makes it easy to see how much you need to trim.

Thats my preference though, I'd suggest getting it slightly longer than you think you need and then trimming 10mm off each surf until it feels right. I did that way and thats how I worked out the above length for my length.

Correct Windy the Jimmy Lewis 10 8 was very nice in solid waves.

The paddle snapped paddling on the river with the family - WTF?? - trying to get a replacement on warranty, but lost a little faith in them. Glad it did not go 1.5 km offshore with 15 knot offshore as I was the previous week.

See you up there, will need to be early for a paddle I think but sailing could be awesome.

Hey Hilly
"Boatramps" would be an absolute classic wave for SUP would'nt it!!?? that place pumps and handles huge waves, scary stuff for a Queenslander, Yeeiikes !! Have you SUPed over the "surgeons table yet" Holy Crap! I think maybe a Naish 11'6 Gun would be the choice of boards around that area when its big , but then big by you blokes standard is massive by Qld standard.
Any way if your a local there you may know Little Mitch, charges Margies for a little bloke , Rupert ( painter) also rips , Old Baz probably cruising these days, and of course Mark Chadwick ! I hope he didn't build your house and it fell down or something.

Cheers Jono
