Got to Tahoe a few days ago and it is just magic on the lake. Paddling a few hours each morning and racing in a 10km paddle tommorrow.
Lots of great boards around. Will get some photos and video.
The only problem is that coming from sea level to 6300 ft make breathing pretty hard when going hard. Small price to pay for a couple of weeks of paddling some of the most beautiful water imaginable

Well the race is run. it was 10kms and was into a 20-25 knot headwind the whole way. Great fun. 87 starters including about 20 on prone boards. i came in 2nd in the stock class and I think about 5th out of the SUPers. great fun

Great fun you say???.. Sounds like torture..

Congrats Dave.. That's a great result.. btw, Why didn't they go the other way and do it in reverse.. That would have been much more fun..

What board did you paddle?

DJ verygood question. It would have been the perfect downwind run, but it sorted out the men from boys. fastest time Sup was 1hr 13mins, slowest time was over 3hrs 45 mins. Hard work.
i paddled a 12ft Tahoe SUP wood A great board for the conditions , thick square rails, very stable and a mini keel half way up the board as well as a big fin

Fantastic result Dave - well done!

You will be fit when you get back down to sea level. Love that feeling of boundless energy you get at sea level when you have been training at high altitude - and hate it when it goes the other way!

Hope you took lots of photos.

3:45 for 10km is 2.67 kph. That's about 50% faster than I go into wind in 15-20 knots. I dunno if I could keep that work rate up for half an hour let alone almost 4 hours.
