Seem to be getting a lot of the happy crew from the realsurf forum joining in, good forum for surfboard design stuff, but most of the regulars seem to live in some sort of urban surfing hell. My advice is do not take the bait, turn the computer off and come back in a week.

Pffft. Where have all my new friends gone? I was only just getting started, I got to say I did fall for perineum - how sad to hear that those evil shortboarders rubbed wax all over his windscreen!

But I was onto bumflufff and when buff_brad came along with his hillarious post I almost fell off my chair.

Well done guys

Great to see quality Aussie humour is still alive & kicking!

Those boys had me roped in for a bit. Nice work.

LOL...too funny...and I fell for it hook, line and sinker. Although i have to say...bumfluff was definitely an odd character in his SUP persona.

Damn, those real surfers sure did have fun at the expence of us naive innocent SUPers, maybe one day it could be us doing the panty raid giggle giggle snort, that would be so fun.

That was a nasty trick this morning Oliver, I missed all the fun last night at the internet cafe. LOL. I know but Laurie removed their last new post.
Friday night and not down the pub, how Aus has changed.

I tried to get an account using the name SUPerior but I guess they were on to me. Pity, as I was starting to have some real fun messing with them at their own game. Anyway, now it looks as though they are turning on themselves - sure glad I'm not Wanto.

I worked something out: whenever you see someone posting for the first time about learning to surf/wanting instructions etc do a search for "seabreeze" on forum.realsurf.com/forum/search.php

Pick the first link and read through it - that should pretty much tell you if it's another troll or not.

Got to say this forum has been very entertaining the past few days. And yeah sorry guys for messing with your computers with that little porn virus thing I posted earlier.

LOL...I was reading through the posts there and then noticed that the newest member was SUPerior...thought it was kind of ironic and wondered if it was someone from here.

You have to laugh at the practical joke but you have to wonder at the nature of it. If you read the post over there dealing with it they seem to feel more intelligent for having pulled off posing as genuine members here. As if posing as someone else on the internet was a difficult thing to do.

I'll choose to believe in the general honesty of people, call me naive or old-fashioned. I'll get burnt occasionally, but I prefer to deal with people that way. I actually thought I was dealing with someone with a mental handicap in bumfluff...

The sad part is that the original post wasn't all that unbelievable even if it did venture into the bizarre. I've heard of worse encounters happening unfortunately.

Hey stoneaxe. This sort of thing has been happening pretty much since the beginning of the internet and is now a fact of life on all forums, I'm pretty amazed it hasn't happened to this extent here earlier. This forum is a good one - very genuine people. I reckon I'm getting pretty good at spotting trolls though, even though I did fall for it in the beginning. It was the post - now deleted - from Casso that got the whole ball rolling.

I know Oliver. I built my 1st website in 87. Probably before most of these posers were born. I've also left other forums that went bad...unrelated to surfing or SUP. All it takes is a few idiots unfortunately and if the admins aren't vigilant (as it seems they are here) it goes south quickly. Forums are great and especially in the beginning there is a feeling of a close community. Its easy to know everyone when there is a small number. Unfortunately with their success comes the perils of the growth into a city with all the attendant charlatans, scam-artists, and low-lifes. Without close watch they can overpower it.

Last thing we'd want to see the SUP forum turn into is some us forum -vs- them forum.

Remember that no matter what sport you're into .. surfing, SUP, windsurfing, kitesurfing .. you do it because it puts a smile on your dial .. you do it because you're gagging to get out there and do it.

Let's focus on the fun .. if you want to do debate surfing please jump in the other forum or visit the "General Discussion" category.

Enjoy .. Lozza
