hey guys!

i have been looking at the valve on my board thinking that there has to be a better system than the type you have to un screw. is there anyone selling valves seperately that you not have to touch unless you get water in the board?

i looked around and could not find anything at all.

Shouldnt they be left undone when the board is not in use?

You should realy leave the valve alone once installed, it's easy to forget to screw it back in when your froth'n to get out there. Plus some manufactures suggest it can shortern the life of the rubber ring that makes the seal on the screw part. But if you've dinged your board and there's water in it, some people do unscrew it to release the vacum / presure to help get the water out before the ding fix

Pretty sure Dale Chapman uses the valves you describe- never touch them, gortex valve. Got one in my board. :D

thanks for the response's!

im wondering of there was a valve on the market that was totally rebuildable would people be interested? i sketched a few ideas down last night and could build some prototypes in the next month to try.

is there a standard for the threads in the boards?

Why would the valve ever need to be rebuilt?

Surely a new O ring would be the most you would replace if for some reason the valve ever had to be removed.

If you don't leave your board lying around in the sun or in the back of the car it should be fine with the valve in place permanently.

well you never know if something will go bad, if its re buildable at least you can get back on the water without having to wait for a part. the two o-rings that could potentially fail in my design could come with the valve as spares. if you spent 5 minutes every season changing these you would have a foolproof valve.

i think ill have a play with it when i get some free time and post up when i got the proto done.
