we had a club comp down cudgen way on sunday.3 foot and barreling when we got there.the tent was lucky it got pitched because everyone bolted out for a surf. i only had my kc twinnie in the car and out i went, i little out of sorts, but got it together and was it was fun.had to do some work this morning, not happy. the surf is small, but super clean.i got home and checked out the alley wide bank- again small, but the tide was low and those banks are cracking at the moment. oops, one for the southerners,i shouldn't worn my 2 mm wettie, so dam hot.now the waves were good, but i had a really good surf . question is was it because i had a shortboard the day before? anyone else had the same thing?

Absolutely, Woke up Sunday morn and saw that my local was being over run with a shortboarders comp track number 6 ( was that you ) so a couple of the nieghbours and myself decided to go further south for a bit more swell. They wouldn't let me take my sup so went with the fish. Had a surf this morn on my 8'11 and couldn't believe how well it went.

LOL. That happens to me too - but I'm slowly converting them.

A fish is a particularly good cross-over board - similar feel to a performance SUP, IMO. Easy to transition both ways.

yeah, sorry about that. the groms really wanted a contest, we have had only 3 comps all year due to poor conditions. i wasn't going to name the spot, but its pretty dam good. i had my sup on the car, but thought it was about time for a shortie and the waves suited. hey casso, i was thinking it might be a bit of good training for the aussie titles
cheers

Dale makes a sweet fish. Good idea. You could get the same/similar shape.

Didn't mind at all, had that right hander firing all week but I was going to let Von Piros and the goldy crew in on it. Bloody good this morning.
