shortening the paddle length

I need to shorten the shaft on my carbon paddle by a coupla inches.
Can anyone give me some tips on what to cut it with and what glue to use etc before I butcher it.

I have the same problem. Need to take several inches off a kialoa methane that has the handle glued on. There is a long gone thread that went through the process but it was like a year ago.

Worrier, use a hacksaw blade to cut it and set the handle in a box type setup so the hacksaw blade cun rub against the timber blocks to keep the cut nice and square similar to a mitre box. Allow a length of shaft to go into the handle when you measure it, about 30mm. Then use 5 minute Areldite a bead of silicone once you have glued the shaft and you can get heat shrink bands to put over the joint between handle and shaft. My tech teacher always told me in my apprenticeship, measure twice cut once, good luck.

The simplest way to shorten an existing Kialoa paddle that has the T handle glued on is to just cut it to the new length and glue a new T handle on the and of the cut shaft.

I think replacement T handles are about $20.

Its a Naish carbon im currently using. Ive had the handle gaffa taped on for 6 months,till i worked out the right length. All good, take off the tape and cut her down now.
