hi all in sup world. has any body used wax on a starboard star touch deck to help in grip. i am borrowing a 9.1 pro and the deck is like ice to stand on. any advice or ideas.ta

I wouldn't get stuck into your 'borrowed' board with an orbital sander.. .. But booties is another option.

Don't think you can do it to a borrowed board but I have a Wood venier Hero that I am sticking on torn up pieces of cork tile to make it look like it has been shattered.

Originally I thought I would cut the cork tile into strips then stick them on in a fishbone pattern but then thought it would not give the grip required and that any irregulatories in the laydown would be noticeable. So I decided on the shattered uncontrolled look that would give random grip.

When I am finished I will post a pick, took the idea from wood surfboard websites, cork does not absorb water, grips well and is cheap. The downside is time and the weight is a bit more than normal grip.

I tried my board on the weekend with the cork tiles torn up and stuck on and it is better than any grip I have tried before, actually maybe too grippy. I think i ccould have glued the cork tiles directly on without tearing it up as the grip was more than sufficient.

I have not finsihed the deck yet, but I will take a pic shortly.
