i was loving the board and everything was there except i couldn't hold the tail in on extension parts of turns and had trouble flicking off steep closeouts waves. at 77 kg's, i just didn't have the weight to hold it in. so i came up with a radical idea that dale didn't wont to know about. he said we'll just do another one, but jun , who works at dc said he could do it.besides i couldn't face 62mac with another board
this what the board was

and this what we did

a section of glass was cut out wider than what was needed to reshape a lower tail rail and be able to blend it back to the existing glass/shape. it kinda looked like a horse shoe shape of foam exposed. reshaping was from about 8" or so from the front fins

jun did an awesome job which i knew he would after seeing him put "jeds" broken dc16 back together(jed, hope you are staying away from or 4-5' shorebreaks now) . the photos don't do it justice. richard harvey said you can't tell what was done. oh, goes great and i was flicking of lowtide shore breaks with ease and surfing with the small fins i wonted to use
cheers

this my fifth short dc. i still have this one

it's my bigger wave board.i admit i'm extra fussy, same as my shortboards. but, this ones a keeper- a special, otherwise, i wouldn't have bothered to alter it. these two boards are it for a while. these boards are so good, you just keep thinking about what more you can do in the surf
cheers
ps everyone has a vice- mines surfboards

Looks nice now, thinner in the tail is definitely better in bigger waves and critical sections

The new tail looks great. Well done to Jun.

There is no need for thick tails. They need to be fine like yours. I bet it rips.

lol, keen to get the d/w er's going. jacko's sold a couple of sticks for me and i put my hand up for the naish 17, had a short paddle on it, pretty nice(hey jacko, going to have to do some testing). also got some credit up for a dc16 that will be a blow up of als dc14 with thicker rails, not as wide bulked up and some turning gear. racing is something i wont to do, i've done other judged sports and not prepared to go there with my surfing. my times are ok, but got a lot to learn and catching up to do in the ocean. so 2 shorties, 2 rather long ones will be it

um, a slick pinned tail gun for the wave season did you say

nice lacey

love your work

gotta line up a gun mate for those epic all down the line days you guys will be getting soon

sooooo comin up to crowd the line up a bit more when its pumpin from the north and hitting the bank out the front of your joint

i had the oppitunity to take the 17' and 8'10 naish for a paddle the other day (thanks for the offer jacko and ange)

but had very limited time so had to just drool over them on the racks instead, then clean up the mess with a mop and bucket, then shammey them off before leaving the shop a little bit deflated and pissed off with life and then head to the nearest KFC and drown my sorrows in a large tub of potato and gravy and a 21 piece feed (thanks for the directions jacko)

was great to check out the new boards they had in stock

very impressed with the finish of the jimmy lewis sticks top shelf stuff

and the weight and finish of the new psh boards was a highlight too

totally blown out by the width of the 10'6 mana

gotta get one for my school for the learners on the larger end of the scale like me haha to get out on and kill it.......lol.........

later

casso's was good, keep it the same, but for some reason my skinny ass couldn't sink this ones ass- just one of those things, no one to blame. retailer's dream- probably. if they look after me- good, i ask how much- don't haggle. if they don't look after me, i'm gone.

love that fine tail, it reminds me of the super thin pulled in tail on the psh 9'6". Jun is a wizard, he is actually Dr Jun orthopedic surgeon to busted boards. Dropped off the 16footer AGAIN to him today - here's a tip, don't hit a submerged rock with your rudder. The result is it pushes the the tail of the rudder back up through the bottom of your board and that's a hole that needs fixing. Stay deep, applies to downwinders as much as any other board
