your opinions on this board,i have windsurf in waves for 20 years and surfed longboards for the last 5 years.i have taken to the sups and went with one of these boards for the surfing aspect, but after 6 months am still having stability problems with a bit of movement on the sea surface, basically carnt stay on it.interested to hear from people who ride them

Hi broadman, what is your height and weight? The Bonga is a small board for a first board and this information is important for a useful comparison with other owners.

They are a tippy board but surf unreal, it feels like I am on my shortboard. I came off the Kalama (11' 6) down to this board and the two do not compare for surfability.

The bonga is not a beginners board (unless you are light, I weigh close to 90 kegs) but once you get it nailed the best board in surf I have seen. I also struggle if there is chop on the ocean but found the stability trade off for unreal surfing worth it.

Cheers

I've paddled well over a dozen different SUP's and I reckon the Bonga is the hardest to balance on.

I have a few friends that paddle one and love it but IMO they're too much like hard work..especially if you're over about 70 kg..or it's not glassy.

I think board size is not so much about how good you are but more about how heavy and tall you are and also your paddling conditions.

Maybe it's time to trade to something that's more fun.
