hi was wondering if anyone else has been speared by a naish glide . i was catching little runners at currumbin alley at exposed sandbank in middle when the huge tail fin touched the bottom throwing me over front of glide. then the tail lifted as wave passed spearing it into my ribs leaving a big cut and purple ribs for weeks . i was wondering why naish have to have such a sharp nose its the sharpest ive seen ( the lamenated wood section) if u hit someone in surf with it im sure u would have a naish human shish kabob and a not too happy surfer lol ps will be using my legrope from now on. and 12klg of really sharp point coming at u at speed will do lots of damage.

Firstly I wish you a speedy recovery as I have had issues for almost 6mths with broken ribs from a SUP miscalulation. My Surname should be DUMBA$$

There are several SUP boards shaped with pointy noses and almost every short board in the water, so the glide isnt on it own in that category.

Bad luck and murphy will find you some time in life!

Yeah well the Glide isnt much of a surf animal... I do find the pulled nose makes a big difference when paddling into the wind though.

If there's people around, wear a leash...always.

The pointy nose is what makes them so good on down-winders... Bummer about you're ribs.. That's gotta hurt..

When pearling with a round nose the board really bogs down.. The pointy nose cuts through like a hot knife through butter.

At least it's pretty thick even though it's pointy looking down from above.. It's pointy and thin that's a real concern.

BTW.. Anyone else think the Yellow AST 12 is a little different than the White Wood/Carbon 12...

The AST looks like it might have more volume but its hard to tell with the paint jobs being so different. How about you weigh them for us DJ?

Hey DJ,

I noticed that too and did some measurments with calipers, they are different.

The white board has significantly more vol and slightly different rocker IMO.

It's funny seeing those two tips together. I imagine almost everyone with the wood tip has had a few scrapes, whereas the AST versions probably have no scratches on the tip because there's no paranoia about scratching the wood veneer.

DJ, I think those two glides are made in different factories. That might explain it.

My understanding is the white deck Naish's come from China. The wood grain decks come from Cobra in Thailand.

That might mean Iggy shaped a new plug for the new Factory, so it came out slightly different. Shapers are human.

Sounds like a job for a silicone nose tip. You get the sharp nose for wave piercing and soft silicone for shock absorption.

I wonder if there is a similar disparity between the 14' Glide and the AST
