Changed my standard JP fins on my 8'5ft JP Sup to fancy composite ones and wondering if anyone have views on if they are too stiff.
What i'm experiencing compared to the standard fins is on the wave they are big improvement over standard, so much grip and drive that turns are great, so new fins are exactly what i wanted but the issue is when paddling out to waves and catching waves the board feels hard to power along and sluggish. The standard fins glided more easily.

So wondering if the fins are too stiff or too large or too large and stiff for my SUP & weight combination and if changing them would keep the wave performance but lose the sluggishness however need to know what aspect of the fins i need to change.

Any views welcome.

Some pics or size of the fins would help, but my personal view is that you should judge fins only by their performance on the wave. When paddling out, fin differences are not worth considering, as some technique adjustements will be more important than fin difference there.

Do you actually miss takeoffs, or it is just a sluggishness feeling?
