this may seem like a stupid question , but ill ask any way i have a race coming up on Sat.8 km ill be riding my 11.6 my question is would the fin placement make any difference in a long distance race.

yes, it sure does, put it all the way back. This helps keep your board straighter for longer especially when riding runs on swells. Forward for turns, Back for speed and direction!
Good luck, are you on the 11'6" Naish? she is very quick in the ocean. Guys were traveling another 10% faster than me on our ocean paddle on them, and I was on the 11'4" which is very fast to begin with.

Thanks for the tip JB no i have the Kalama 11.6.Im hoping to sell it and get a Naish 10.6 or smaller for the surf and if i win lotto a vortice for distance.

yeah that sounds good , when do those naish boards come out.I cant wait to get on something smaller.Although i cant complain to much about the Kalama it has been pretty versatile for a big board i have had it out in some decent size surf.

You've probably already thought of it, so tell me to suck eggs if you have.....but IMO I'd take out the side bighters on the Kalama for a paddle like that.
