Happy to see him win but I think he was over scored. Especially on his first one

could be, but over all his surfing was more controlled and way faster of the top and have you ever see some someone rebound from a cutbacks with that speed

yes there are guys that fast, but he was faster in the critical sections for the final imo

He definitely looked the better surfer of the two but a 9.43? Even the commentators seemed a bit shocked. I thought it was around an 8.5 but anyway as I said I'm glad he won and I think he deserved it

I also thought Taj's wave was scored a tad too high. After watching a replay of the final I reckon Taj deserved the win. Its funny to look back to 2011 when at the Rio Pro in front of a home crowd de Souza scored a 8.23 for a single manouver (floater) wave to beat Owen Wright in the quarters, he went on to win the event......as they say you gotta take the good with the bad.
