here is some pics from my trip across, i decided to give margs and esperance a miss as there was a bloody big storm front, so i got one last decent windsurf in at gearies and headed inland to the gold fields instead.
By the time i hooked up with the ocean at the start of the nulabor the front had caught up with me,, big westerly winds blowing me across...big big big waves here, bit of a trek with your gear though..hmm gave it a miss
Found this place that looked good for a flat water paddle, read the memorial plaque and gave it a miss, sad story.
Around the headland at famous cactus beach, it was X onshore and very windy,, read somethig in green rooms surf atlas about havin to paddle over a family of 200 bronzies to get out...and locals shooting holes in windsurf sails ...gave it a miss
the local attraction at streaky, largest shark caught on rod 5.5m ...not bad..think i'll give streaky a miss
defo give streaky a miss, big winds, big waves, is this indicators???? looked good for windsurfing,, bit like the g spot.
pot of gold at the end of the rainbow,,, this place was chucking some long long waves down a channel.. nr streaky, so probably shark infestation.
the bloody storm front that was following me across oz
Drove 1100km in a day/night to get past the front....PRAISE THE LORD at last...the best beach break i've ever supp'd and it was empty..
put on my fairy wings the next morning and scored more gold
got a sesh in at bells - rincon(sorry no pics,it was poifect and glassy, then over to flinders for some target practice)
It all came good at the end, would love to have got out at penola/streaky , if the weather has been more favourable and the waves a tad smaller. ha ha. gr8 trip highly recommended
