think i figured out what did my lower back (facet joins) a couple of weeks ago,,,

I'd been doing heaps more j stokes than normal....

after someone mentioned it to me and thinking about it.... trying to pull the nose round with the J stoke on distance ,, puts a lot of stress in your LB.

dont quote me on this, i may be wrong, just b careful kidz.

Yep, I've got a touch of that too.

After two weeks away at a great SUP'ing point and multiple surfs each day, I've contracted the old lower back pain condition.

It's that one where it's hard to bend down and put your foot through the leg of your underpants (now that's a nice piece of imagery).

A j stroke is what kayak'ers or canoe guys use to paddle on one side for longer without the boat turning.

They paddle straight and at the end of the stroke they do a funny thing with the paddle and sweep away from the boat..or something like that.

It does not work with SUP and its not worth even trying to do it... IMO

Maybe "tie your shoe laces" might have painted a more pleasent picture.
I also have this problem for years now but some simple stretches help a bit.
I will lay on my back, then bring knees up to your chest while concentrating
to bring my lower back/bum off the ground. This is good in the morning to get
you started as long as you don't push to much. Back's suck!
