If you like 30" then I reckon you should stick with Starboard.
I think Scotty and Sven know what they are doing and are onto something with the new 09 range. So much to choose from.
The Starboard 10'5 to me is just a shorter version of the 11'2. Less board to carry and less board to through around on the wave and you can still nose ride the 10'5.
The Starboard 9'8 is a loose goose and still can be paddled offshore at 30".
And if you want an even looser moose you gotta try the 9'8 x 28.5". Obviously a bit more tippy and would require a bit more concentration.
If you want tough construction, durability and a deck that doesnt sink where you stand, then dont look past Starboard IMHO
