so many people drawn to the beach and ocean. even dogs get off on it. it almost seems like we are drawn to it even though we are not really designed as water going creatures

Because we are 70-80% water, it just makes sense.

In the great evolutionary path, we started life as sea slugs So we're just returning to our roots.

Hey Lacey
I think a statistician once worked out that a man thinks about sex once a minute
so lets say 20 seconds per minute, then 20 seconds for surfing per minute, then 20 seconds thinking about the wife and kids, then going to work looking at boat wakes on the Tweed river thinking could I paddle in to that ,no wonder I go to work for 8 hours a day and dont remember being there .Then trawling EBAY looking at surfing gear and forums, love of the ocean is something your born with I work with 10 blokes and I am the only one who surfs and I am kinda glad cause most of the well known local spots are packed around here.
cheers boof

life's a bitch if you can't get to the beach. i'm wondering if our first 9 months of life is the start of our life long love affair with the sea

All I wanna ever do is be in the water. I dont drink, smoke or do drugs. A breaking wave is my drug. I bleed salt water. If I dont see the ocean at least once a day I turn suicidal. Cut loose from the noose! 20 seconds I think about windsurfing, 20 seconds I think about SUP surfing and the other 20 I think about whatever Im in the mood for. Even at work Im on auto pilot!
Yesterday I got up at 430am just to get down to the beach and in the water before the sun came up. I got some nice soul arching waves all to myself. I couldnt help but smile and I felt high. Then in the arvo the wind came in and I was back down the beach with the wind in my sail. Just me and a mate with over head high waves.
The total amount of hours I spent yesterday in the water, looking at the water or just hanging at the beach, I would estimate it was about 7/8 hours
Life is a total beach

Perhaps it's genetic.

To look at the ocean and see nothing other than the Horizon always fills my thought with wonder of what's over the horizon. I am sure our ancestors thought the same, made canoes and started paddling.

Some of them found things, what happened to the others?

Maybe that's why paddling things on the ocean is so enjoyable as well.

For me, Life's about giggles. He who giggles the most wins. This can equate to many variables.
Ocean = Giggles
Toys = Giggles
Ocean = Giggles
Beer = Giggles
Ocean = Giggles ..... and so on...... (wife etc)

I'd like to think that at the end you get to see your gigglometer and reflect on your life. It would be pretty disappointing to see your gigglometer with a low reading, life's to short to not be having fun! Just remember the gigglometer is effected by intensity of the giggle as well as the actual giggle. I think we've all held a permagrin for an hour or two after a magical session, and for us, Yes "Life's A Beach". Beach = Giggle
