I'm looking forward to going out on a SUP in 40+ knot onshore wind blown slop
I went out on Saturday down at Inverloch, I reckon it was blowing 35 knot with driving sleet and rain. I paddled out to one of the sandbanks and spent around 2 hours fishing - it was the worst conditions I've been out in. I wasn't able to stand up to get to my destination as the chop was horid, carrying the board was a major challenge and I almost lost all my fishing gear in the drink on the way over. Not really sure why I did it, the water was brown, foamy and stunk of rotting seaweed - I've never seen the water this dirty here before. I AM SO SICK OF WINTER IN MELBOURNE RIGHT NOW - I'm looking at flights to the GC for my ULI and I right now.
Despite the poor conditions I caught two really good fish so it was almost worth it. However, I don't know if it was the sausage roll when I got back to shore or the outing which made my day.
The way I see it is that I only get one weekend per week so I tend to make the most of it.
