stuart murray i think is the guy behind the board

mister suplove.com

watched him tearing it on his wooden board at noosa and even got a close look at it before surfin against him in a heat

it had a massive bum tail on it

i think casso may have had a go on it

wood grain looked sick

That is Stuart Murray (suplove.com) and that is his 8'6" (I think) Treehouse board.

Stuey lives just down the road from me and we often hit the waves together. His Treehouse board has been getting fixed recently (he put it on the rocks) but he has just got it back so I'm sure I'll catch him out on it again soon.

I've ridden it once (up at Noosa) and was pleasantly surprised at its performance. It's the shortest board I have ridden but it is really stable. That super wide, round (not bum) tail acts a bit weird but it actually turns quite well - it doesn't really carve through turns but you can spin it around (flat turns) pretty easily.

The shape isn't my cup of tea but Stuey really likes it and he says he can ride it in really choppy conditions without too much trouble. The workmanship looks great and it's all eco friendly apparently.

I was out there yesterday morning at Mona Vale and he was out there on it-I think he said it was 8' x 30"-I thought he said it camer from tassie?

It's a really nice looking board as far as the wood finish goes and he rides it well-tended to do, as Casso said, flatter slidey turns rather than driving rail to rail turns. Again, he rode it well.

Wooden SUPS are a great idea...due to the differnet properties of wood vs foam you actually get alot more bouancy than you would with a foam board...they can weigh a bit more but you can get a better plan shape and rail shape due to thinning them out....sometimes they come out a bit heavy depending on the glas/wodd combo but hey SUP's are pretty heavy anyway so a 10-15% isn't going to make much difference......there a couple getting around melbourne

your dreaming tux, wood veneer covered foam may be lightish but now where near as light as foam, tom wegeners pawlonia chambered board start at 20kg and the 18 footer he made is 50kg,these are not veneer but solid timber with chambers,i have a veneer balsa with solid rails and stringer 9 foot long board that is 2.5 kg heavier than the exact same shape foam board.solid timber boards(chambered) set surfing back 60 years but do look great

The pawlonia chambered boards are alot diffrenet and heavier than than the Hollow Wooden Surfboards that can be made by skinning a plywood frame with different timbers and then glassing it....Solid rails on a HWS will also add to weight I prefer the Blundell method (Bead and Cove rails) to reduce weight.......
