They've got SUP Racing places for a max. of 48 men and 24 women, but only 2 men and 1 woman from each country are allowed.

And I doubt they'll find 24+ countries to fill up all those spots (their World Surfing Games event is way bigger, and that only had 27 countries).

http://www.isasurf.org/Events_WSUPPC12.php

The thing is, most SUP races are individual events, where ISA events are mainly country-based. And with the world's best paddlers being stacked in two countries (Australia and the USA) it could be a bit lopsided.

Then again they're got SUP Surfing and Prone Paddleboard Racing to even it all out.

Be cool to see how it goes.

Travis and Jamie going up against presumably Connor and Danny for the USA. That's a mouth watering proposition. Go Aussies.

Surfing Australia has just released information in their latest magazine that the Aussie team will consist of nine paddlers - six men and three women for the ISA world titles.

They haven't released the names yet, but have said that Jamie Mitchell will be the team captain.

They've also announced a series of state titles in 2012 leading into the national titles. Looking good for SUP here in Australia!

I think and i could be wrong but USA and Hawaii are considered seperate for the ISA games so i guess we will see both of them plus maybe the likes of Kai lenny as well!!??

That's interesting. So Kai and Connor would race for Hawaii, and Slater Trout would be the reserve. Bart de Zwart could presumably represent the Netherlands or Hawaii. Who's the second fastest mainlander after Danny?

And if we're splitting off regions like that, maybe we could have an Australian team and a separate Currumbin Creek team.

Slater is originally from Florida, so who knows he may get a spot on the US mainland team based on that.

Six men from Australia - 2 racing and 4 surfing?

If so, the surfers would probably be:

- Keahi
- Jackson
- Justin
- Mick Davis

With reserves:
- Goatman
- Dogman

...according to 2011 Australian Titles results.

Looks like Danny Ching won't be making it to Peru!

I'm sure Travis, Jamie and Angie were already confident, but that's gotta tilt things in Australia's favour a little more...

Bit of a shame he won't be there among the world's best, but he had prior commitments. Same with Candice Appleby.

So here's Team USA as it currently stands:

Jay Wild (surf race)
Matt Becker (surf race)
(…either Wild or Becker will also race the long distance event)
Rob Rojas (long distance)
Brandi Baksic (surf race + long distance)

You'd have to think it will be a shootout between Australia and the Hawaiians now. I'd expect NZ to be right up there too, possibly knocking Team USA from the rostrum.

I spoke to someone at Surfing Aust about that, they said it was mainly due to no bottom turns , ie not using the whole wave. Crazy stuff but eh!

which world titles are these? or is it everyone from the same world that will compete to be world champion? just one?or will there be more and will they battle it out in a round robin type world champs to come up with one world champ from this world? or is there only one world champ? how did australia work out who we would send when we dont have one of anything?

The French team just got announced for the ISA World Stand Up Paddle Champs
www.supracer.com/isa-world-paddleboard-championships-2013-team-great-britain/ in Peru:

Eric Terrien (surf race + long distance race)
Ga?tan S?n? (surf race + long distance race)
Antoine Delpero (surfing)
J?r?my Massi?re (surfing)

Antoine got 3rd in the SUP World Tour this year, plus Eric and Ga?tan are both very quick paddlers.

Doesn't sound like they were able to send any women or prone paddlers to Peru, meaning they probably won't be going for the overall crown. But either way, the French should be super competitive in the racing and surfing events.
