Far out, saw Brownie's snapped 12 footer today, in Pink.

Super pin tail. Side biters are about 2 feet off the tail!

Snapped at 8 foot Cathedral Rock.

Here's Cathedral Rock on a different day. It's down near Lorne, Vic.

Mac's just throwing me some bait!

There was the odd fat one in there though... No shortage of grunt though.

That swell was OK, but not great. Notice the howling off/cross winds. Blinds your eyes, and combined with cold water and wind, and an ice-cream head, it can be a bit disorientating, unfortunately.

No wettie's needed around here for the real men!

January, boardies.
Feb, Mar, Apr - long sleeve springy.
Back end of April through Oct/Nov - 3/2 sealed steamer
End Nov, and Dec, springy.

July/Aug/Sep(start) - optional 4/3, or top quality 3/2, or heat vest under a 3/2.

I use a 3/2 from late May to October - then its spring suit and boardies the rest of the time. I would not mind living in Queensland - In Nossa last winter I used a spring suit and was warm and toasty!!! I do not miss having to buy a 4/3 or associated booties and hats. I still recall using a kidney belt in the winter in NZ many moons ago - are they still used? There has been massive improvements in wetsuit technology in the last 5 or so years that you hardly notice them these days.

Has anyone used one of those heated rip curl beasts yet? Seem a lot of money but if you live in a cooler climate I reckon they would be well worth the investment if they worked.

Springy

Manup TTK I'm still wearing the short-john. I'm just adding the SS rashy.

On the subject of wetties, I left mine at the beach on Saturday morning and a mate of MichaelR picked it up for me. That means I had to surf in my billabong springy on Sat arvo and Sun morn.

I disliked it so much, I went down to drippingwet and got a good deal on a peak climax 2.2 with the chest zip.

My god those things are hard to get into compared to a back zip, and the peak was the easiest. But once they're on, they're mighty comfy.

haven't tried it in the water yet.

OB, My grandad always used a saying, something about his generation being of wooden ships and iron men and mine, iron ships and wooden men or maybe that is plastics ships and plastic men now

Guess you're iron... Cause I'm in my LS springy already and even broke out the Staemer the other day.. But boiled in it. I don't handle cold water well

Ted, you can get a vest with the heat pockets from Quik, they look super warm. You just wear it like a rashie under your wetsuit. Think they are bit pricey though.
Also my mate was saying you can just buy the heat packs and stick them down your wettie. But that's going a bit far for around here, down Simondo's way I'd be all over them..
or you can get thermal skins that you can wear under your suit 2.
