I've met some super cool people since selling my boards on gumtree. It's always great to hear their story about surfing.

I've bought many boards of Ebay & Gummy..if you know what you want and it's a standard model, e.g McT Fireball, you can save sometimes near 50% versus a new custom...and the custom isn't always going to be how you think it will ride and maybe then you sell it and lose 50% ..but if you move a 2nd hand board on in good nick the loss is generally minimal...
I wanted a McT 8ball for a long while but couldn't justify the $1500 outlay..waited and one came up on Gummy at half that with a bag
But again customs give you the advantage to have the pick of colour combo and slight tweeks in size and features e.g. multiple stringers...nose and tail blocks...if your cunning kick is fat enough and you want what you want
My current riders are 1 custom and 2 used boards which I love...

I'm a bit old school and never look for second handies online, but that's partly because I live in the SW and getting to see them is problematic. I do drop into the local board store every week to check out the racks but rarely see anything that fills a quiver hole or must be bought (gotta justify to she who must be obeyed).

I have a mate who is perfectly happy buying boards from Perth or around me sight unseen. He lives in Albany. Then again, he does have a weird McCoy fetish.

It's annoying how Gumtree reduces the quality of your pics though, even when you make the file size small enough that they shouldn't need reducing anymore.
