I was in a book store just after Christmas and saw this book, "Stealing the Wave" by Andy Martin for just $5 so I grabbed it and threw it in my bag then forgot about it until I was going to work on the bus this morning.

I couldn't put the bloody thing down all day, I kept sneaking off to read it, I've almost finished it in one day.

It's a story about the Ken Bradshaw, Mark Foo rivalry.

Has anyone else ever read it?

Figured the only way I was ever going to get any work done was if I just knuckled down and read the rest of the 244 pages and got the frigging book out of my system.

What a cracking good yarn, I can’t remember ever reading anything so fast.

I reckon I learnt more about big wave surfing and surfing in general in the last 24 hours than I’ve know in the last 40 years.

Best Lady Godiva I’ve ever spent.

Anyone want a read of it?

If yes, just PM me a postal address and I’ll try to get it to you.

Will be soon, I gave it to a mate in exchange for a book about MP.

It's not a long read so he should be done soon, and he's nearby at Dee Why.

I'll send you a PM when I get it back.

I'm not sure what the title of the MP book is because he hasn't given it to me yet.

I'll give him a buzz today.

P.S.

I didn't have to call him, he called me to say how much he liked the book and was almost done. He wants a copy of his own so I'm going down to Dymocks today to see if they still have any at $5.

He said the MP book was simply called that "MP, the life of Michael Peterson"

He says the author is Shaun Doherty.

Another one is Nat's that by Nat Young.
and
Busting down the door, Rabbit. Great read.

I was never a fan of KS, he appeared to me
one of those stuck up mega stars until I read
his Pipe Dreams book, it really changed my view
Great life story of hardship, which makes him a
true champion, not only in the water but outside
as well.

Today was the first meeting of the SNBLBC (Seabreeze Northern Beaches Longboard Book Club).

We enjoyed waist to nipple high double up straight handers to ourselves out the front of the Dee Why SLSC

Thanks for meeting up with me so I could grab the book Ian. Any luck next time we get together for a surf we might get something a bit better. Hope you enjoy MP.

Yeah, crap surf but I got my quota and I count myself lucky I got one good'n.

I started the MP book this morning, just the forward and the first chapter but OMG, his poor poor mum, what a crap life she had. You could devote the book just to her. No wonder she's so protective of him.

Good to meet you but I reckon the classic was when you flicked through "stealing the wave" and saw there were no pics, the look on your face was priceless

Trust me, the word images he paints are better than any pictures.

Santa bought me the Mick Fanning book. Had finished it day after Boxing Day. Good read and shows what dedication & commitment is all about.

The Abberton story by Sean Doherty reconfirmed my thoughts about those guys. Interesting read and at times funny stories, however I don't think NASA is going to tracking them down to join the Shuttle Program

I've managed to get through more than half the MP book, it's a good read, not as good as "stealing the wave" but good nonetheless.

I'm up to that very depressing late 70s early 80 period of smack induced lost innocence.

I thought the book would somehow endear me to MP but I'm finding that the opposite is true.

perhaps the rest of the book will turn me around.

A new one hitting the book stores next Friday (Parko and friends )
From what I have heard, its a story of his adventures and friends he
has met on tour and he has some funny stories to share.

I'll be grabbing it, I have had the pleasure of meeting Parko on a
couple of occasions and once was an end of year boardriders drink up
and found him to be a great guy to have a few beers with

got into Tom Carrolls,'The Wave Within' book over chrissy. Oldie but a goodie. KS even gets a mention surfing with Tom in Japan as a young tacker. The book confirms RCJ and Tom are big wave legends. Go the goofy

McTavish's book is a good read - hope he does a second, didn't even get out of the 60's.

Hey Obct - I need to get that book I borrowed back to you. Early surf at Colaroy on Saturday? Got out tonight on the 9'4" at Queenscliff the set waves were sweet was still really fat for some reason (not that I'm complaining), probably going to be the last surf of the week unless I feel like fighting the crowds at the bower

Getting dark too early for me these days, I don't get off the bus up at the Skyline until 7pm.

Saturday I'm probably good for an arvo surf, Sunday, I'll try to get wet at around 10:30 and again at maybe 3.30 all depending on the swell.

We'll try to hook up.

Anyone else want that "Stealing The Wave" book for a read?
