I'm a collector more these days.
Riders are down to 2 as I reckon I've found 2 boards that do what I tell them but I'm drawn to the various designs of 70's boards and have collected a few

Personally I rather spend my money on more important things in life like hospital cover
than overindulgence in a plethora of surfboards.

myself I can't see the sense in collecting lots of surfboards.
i think the practice is strange and OCD.
surounding oneself with things of beauty is fine as long as it's not excessive or hoarding.

surfing boards till you find that "lightbulb moment " surfboard is great,,then you won't want to surf
any of your other quiver.. so the waist begins.

I've thinned my quiver to two surfing boards that I surf regularly and found they suit my style and ability
they also make me feel warm and fuzzy.
i realy can't add much more to this thread as nothing much has changed for me in the last week
fortnight month half yearly or year.

^^^ Sorry Mac I don't understand what you mean by quoting me with OCD?

my comments are about the thread topic Collecting and quivers.

My comment above has nothing to do with any members or YOU
only the topic at hand.

Mac. Ill tell you what- just for the hell of it.

Now you surf one place only up to a certain size. Lets face it. Think 2 ft and firing . Max

I put it to you that you choose 2 boards . Semi performance and a longer board that you have.
The other 5 are floss.
Sell them and be a happy surfer .
The joy of surfing for surfings sake.

Ps i know what your answers will be but as i said ......

Great question.... I would say quiver builder, but I aim at having at least one example of each design I feel has been critical to the evolution of surf craft. Nearly there, but all must be ridden

I have seven boards I ride consistently. Another two get pulled out regularly occasionally (if that makes sense). So 9 board quiver. The two 8' and two 9'6" boards overlap a lot, but the last two are probably the last boards I will get from Tom Hoye so they are collectors editions in my mind (shame about the ding on the second surf on the 8' Hoye).

We get a pretty wide wide variety of waves around here though. 1-2 beachies, 1-2 point breaks, 4-6 point breaks, 4-6 reefs, and things that only start working at 6' reefs that go all the way up to I'm not paddling out.

Ive always thought a three board quiver was a minimum here. Small, medium(all rounder) and large.

The rest of them in the shed are the collection. I've only sold three boards in 35 years of surfing.
