Have a couple of mates who always talk up the early and then end up hitting the turps and bailing. I always make sure I tell them how good it was as soon as I get out of the water! Anyone else got mates of that calibre, there must be a few, especially in Winter.

Guilty as charged your honour

Yep mac here always up for a good timeBut as the years roll by,its getting harder to roll or fall out of bed in the wee hours for a surf.

During winter its even harder,I love my winter sports.League,Football,Union and even a touch of AFL.Friday night a couple of Bundy's OK a few and add my favourite team and its game over for the early.

However at 48 I still froth for a good surf in clean good conditions, yes a lot more fussy than in my youth but the passion is still there and I guess that's not a bad thing.

Having said all that, I am true to my word,if I say I'll be there you can count on me turning up,will its only the level of lateness.

I'm half guilty, I just don't fancy surfing in the early morning.

I don't know why because I'm an early riser and I hardly ever drink now days.

I just prefer to surf in the arvo,

I know the surf is usually worse but I really prefer the way the light shines on the wave face on this side of the country.

And I'm not always having to sit out the back squinting into the sun.

My mates have learnt now that when I organise a time and place I am there - where and when I say and if they don't show I hit the water without em ! I always get the same b/s from them "slept in man, why didnt you call" so mostly I don't make too many arrangements to meet people cos it really pisses me off when people let me down.
I am not really a drinker so I am generally the first clown in the water most days and in summer you can see me walking along palmy looking for a peak at 4.30 most mornings. Yeah I am kind of a selfish prick I know - dont really surf in packs and really love my own company on early morning surfs. I tend to be more sociable later in the day The other really good thing about surfing alone early is that I always rip

Very rarely bail with a hangover, have even surfed drunk a couple of times ha ha. i just stay away from pubs the night before cos a couple turns into a few and yes Mac bieng a bundy fiend I find it hard to stop once the Op's are flowing [}:)]

One trip to a beachie north of perth I remember jumping in the back of the wagon so i could get horizontal to try and get some sleep, sort of worked, but I was still throwing up every 15 minutes til we got there. My mates kept a close eye on me as I looked and surfed like death. Sort of got better but after an hour was back in the wagon horizontal. I tried to lead by example that day...
