Are there any gentle/safe spots to surf around Coronation Beach in WA?

Looking to see if worth taking my son with to Coro beach in November.

He has only surfed a couple of years so can't be anything to radical or heavy.

I was up that way a littlw while a ago for the winter classic. It was a fairly decent size and is over reef so may not be a beginners wave, saying that it is very fat and mellow wave. Not sure how it would go in Summer?

Probably a risky bet in summer. April-June is peak time I guess, anything around Summer is going to bring a significant prevailing southerly into play. Popular for kiting and stuff though.

Yeah Roj

Check out www.bom.gov.au/climate/averages/wind/selection_map.shtml for the wind rose at 9am and 3pm - its very informative. Judging from the 9am wind rose for November, its howling from the southern quadrant already on 50% of days. Not much glass in that. Better to take a windsurfer and a few sails eh!

Oh, and make sure that you don't go off in a dodgy van again.

Was a real eye opener, great waves and good company. I also managed to sneak some in on the main peak after the comp on saturday night. Mind boggles to think what the place would be like this weekend

Might have to get my s**t in one sock and have a crack at competing next year, the vibe was really good. Geez it was cold though

I think you blokes might be overstating it a bit.

It sounds like you intending to stay at the Coro's camp site.

Yes in November it will be windy, but its usually light in the early morning, up till 10-11amish.

The coastline for kms both North and South has a plethora of waves of all different sizes.

You will definately find a spot with a handy little wave for him to rip up without any problem whatsoever.

Couldnt of had better weather for the classic, offshore and 1m of swell Wheres all the photos of the weekend Really enjoyed the old mal section. If I could find one I'd have a crack at it next year. Whalebone should be interesting with the front about to hit on the weekend

I have not seen any photos as yet either? There has to be some floating around somewhere. Yeah the old mals look like a blast, shame they are so expensive to buy Might try and borrow one one day.

I have seen a website that specialises in selling old mals. In saying they are really expensive there were a few that were reasonably priced. Some push 4 to 5k though!

Word on the street is that they might postpone the Whalebone, not official just what I have heard.
