The relaxed lifestyle of longboarding is made evident to me everytime there is bigger than normal crowd in the line up. I can always find a longboarder out the back just off the main pack waiting patiently for one to swing far enough past the crowd and into his path. No hassling for position just a few strokes and they are away.

Most of the time always up for a friendly chat and generous with sets as there is usually only a few L/B out there. Just highlights one of the reasons I enjoy the sport and the lifestlye.

Surfed for a total of 5 hours yesterday, absolutely knackered but it was worth it. The waves away from the crowd were not as good as the ones half of WA were scratching to get at but me and mate had a relaxing surf in between getting pummeled on the bomb sets!

Thanks for sharing that refreshing story Souwester.
Where I surf the line up is dominated by longboards
as it is very popular and well excepted, the shortboarders
hang in one group which is good for them and from there
on its full of men with big sticks and very crowded most times.
But as you say, everyone gets along and most share waves. Its
only the blow ins that cause the occasional problem.I think we
all understand that at our age we will never be world beaters and
enjoy our water time and chill out from the day to day issues.
As the slogan goes, life's better when you surf.Well it always makes
me that much happier.
