I know its an age old question, and one I asked Pieter when I picked my board up on Monday. He glassed it on the Saturday and said I could go ride it on Monday arvo when I picked it up. Now I am not going to undermine anything the board shaper says, but what do you do?
Pieter said that with a top quality, modern AUSTRALIAN blank and the the resins that are used now he has never had a problem with customers riding his board as soon as its finished. Although he did say that full cure would tkae about 28 days but the 90% after drying would be more than enough for a ride.
As I am in no hurry I will give it a week or two.........well...a week anyway.

Nope, ride them when you get them.

Curing for long time periods is a myth. Few days after glassing is enough.

Your new board has long since cured by the time even the sander gets it. I still have boards in excellent condition that were shaped, glassed, sanded and first ridden over an 18-hour period -- and that was back in 1987.Of course, there are many different brands of resin of varying quality, an assortment of fiberglass cloths and scores of right and wrong blanks for a particular shape -- they all affect the strength and durability of a surfboard much more than any cure time, but that's another story entirely.

Natural things like meat and cheese need to cure in oder to either dry them or allow enzymes and other substances to enhance their flavour. Fibreglass is a chemical reaction, once it's done, it's pretty much done.

I know that, but for some reason I still always wait a few days.

I wait a week at least or until it stops smelling. If it's smells it's still curing, albeit onlybthise final few percent. I pay too much for them to not have be as buff as possible.

Where mine are made there is roughly a week after the board is glassed before it moves into the sand and polish rooms,so its cured by the time I pick them up.

and here I was thinking your garage was really a ' 6 week mct curing room' before you moved them, them being the boards, on to their rightful owners
