Hi,

I'm currently researching a new board. I noted today McT does the Original in both glass and epoxy. I was wondering how the performance would compare for the same shape in different construction.

I was never a fan of epoxy short boards but I have had some guys tell me the epoxy Original is easier to turn and paddles into waves better than a glass board

I like the rocker in the Original as the my board is intended for 2ft to 6ft point & beachies. The reason I'm asking is that McT does the UFO in glass only. It has the same rocker as the Original and is something I'm considering.

Thanks

Hi,i have both in my quiver and have been changing from epoxy to glass. What i have concluded is that epoxy is ok in clean and windy conditions under 10 knots,as the glass board has the extra weight to glide through those choppy mushy sections and when you are paddling into those windy conditions that extra weight helps once again.good luck.

Thanks Asea,

I think the methodology is that epoxy has more float = better paddling and less weight in the nose to throw around - thats what I've heard anyway, I haven't had enough experience on both types or longboards to comment.

A mate sent this article which is not a bad read, doesn't really comment on construction. Pity I can't have 4 new boards.
