We have started in the other thread and i think this is something that can benefit all..... or must die

Tyre kickers..... people just checking **** out... or as i learnt in one of my first jobs in a butcher shop that they come in many forms and how you deal with each client generally will end in a result in HOW one deals with each client

Or is the term tyre kickers something jaded sales peolple/ businesses use as a excuse for their short comings?

Are shapers as i have said many a time **** business people? Why are the good ones doing well.....

I say the surfboard companies doing well are well
run businesses not necessarily good surfboards...

Oh the list goes on...

Chrispy I do hear now and then, oh we had a bunch of tire kickers in,sure this can be true but it can also be used as an excuse.
Tire kickers are hanging around for a reason, the job for the salesperson is to sell them something,a tire kicker can be sold on something
the salesperson may need to work harder and or smarter.

Me I love kicking tires.

****ed if I know bro...I only really do it for fun but after a few bad experiences I'm super up front with people about how long its going to take and what I'm willing to do or not do for them...its probably meant that I haven't shaped many as boards as I would have liked in the last few months but I like to think I'm much happier as a result

It would have to be hard being a small operation shaping/glassing boards yourself & having enough interest in your product that your getting enquiries within hours of operation via phone & email. Having to take time away from the creation process to respond to those enquiries & not having anything beneficial come out of it would be frustrating when your busy or the surf is good.

To prosper I think you would need good sales people to deal with enquiries & allow the shaper to concentrate on what he does best, creating boards. Coz that's what ultimately brings in the cash....plus anything that can lower overheads, maximise output & increase profits with good production environment, tools & processors.
