Made the mistake of trying to get through a solid beach break on the 9'6 today without sussing out where the rips where to get me out Ended up copping set after set on the head, finally got out and it was not worth it, found it too lumpy and inconsistant to even paddle onto.

With my tail between my legs my mate suggested a more protected reef break around the corner, that was way more like it, easy paddle out and even though conditions were far from clean got a few and ended having an okay day. Still coming to grips with the bigger board but learning every day.

I know the feeling, if there's any single thing that will stop me from going out, it's the paddle through the break if I can' find a decent rip.

Getting off and on the board a half dozen times just kills me so I don't even bother to try.

I'm happy enough with a crappier wave if it's an easy paddle.

I was just way too keen to stop and have a good look. My mate got out easy and I got pumped much to the enjoyment of my GF watching from the beach! Learn something every day, I learnt that day to never take the GF if its big ha ha.
