I should probably clarify this some more...
For small clean waves I have a traditional log that I love to death and will never sell. EVER! 10 foot pig, big glass on D fin - a real beauty.
For the high tide, fatter waves, say chest-head & 1/2 I would normally use the midlength.
On the sucky days I use a quad egg style board
And then I throw in a fish for some variety randomly throughout all of the above conditions.
So in short:
1-2 foot - log
2-4+ foot fat - Midlength
2 - 4 + Sucky - Quad Egg
Random - Fish
I guess what I am trying to garner opinions on is the worth of a midlength at all - should I just brush the NPJ and get a more performance orientated longboard in the high 9 foot range. 9'10" ish.
Mac - cheers for the advice on the DirtNap, what McTavish would you recommend? The Fireball? Pinnacle?? The board that Ray Gleave rides in that mini movie is nice, if I can surf like that it may persuade me to buy a McTavish
