I think it's 160 hours now - both my daughters have recently gone through it.
The girls take photos of the speedo on their phones so it is time stamped each end of the session.
The boys get lots of different coloured pens when they fill out the log book.

That's an awesome idea.
My girl just got her L plates 5 days ago.
I am being calm and have a new sub division with minimal traffic really close.
Interesting talking to other parents and have a good idea if which parent will be instructor.
2nd day partner (when she is my passenger has pretend brakes) was in the back and not good with everyone stressed.

Either parent can be a good instructor. I'm now 62, but taught both my sons. First thing I taught them was how the car worked. Not so they could fix it, or anything like that, but so they could be sympathetic to it. With modern tech, it's easy to forget that there are still heavy loads and friction points and an unsympathetic driver will spend a lot of money on brakes and tyres. When they realise how much brakes, tyres and services cost, that helps too. When they're driving Daddy's car, they don't see how the costs of aggressive and impatient driving.

The second thing I taught them was patience. It's meant that they don't rush and don't worry about traffic. Impatience is the major cause of all accidents and road rage.

YOU have to be patient and remove yourself from being anything other than calm.

Avoid late braking
Avoid tailgating
Avoid distraction (including, if possible having friends or siblings in the car when learning)

Get them to worry only about what they are doing, not what the other guy is doing.

Make sure they look for the un-expected. Which mostly includes lunatics, motorcyclists (like me) and bicycles.
