Just checked out the auction in Claremont, Not all of Len's collection but he's put I think 30 up for auction.
Stringer less, tracker's, D Fins all restored looking very fine. my pick fav's Wayne Lynch Revolution 8'er and a Mark IV Cordingly stringerless 9'er.
auction catalogue lists the expected sell range I have no experience in valuation but hope its accurate because my old mal not only rides well its worth a few bucks.
Auction Wednesday night starts around 7.00pm.

Surfboards and Surf Memorbilia can be hard to price actually.

I've been to see a few of Mick Mock's auctions that he helped organise.

I'll never forget seeing a bidding war on a Surf Pinball Machine. Felt like $1,000 tops, but Damien Hardman finally won with a bid of Five Grand. Mind you, he was shaking his head and laughing at the absurd price... I guess $5k didn't bother the Hardman too much!

Speaking of Hardman, I used to see him around here a bit with his job a RipCurl. Maybe he doesn't need to get down here as much anymore. He loves Winki like the rest of us Speed Freaks!!

Edit- that was bang on 10 years ago, and $5 Gorillas would be equal to about $8k now.

Working unfortunately and big one is ...I cannot bring myself to see these rare surfing history pieces being possibly going overseas champion .... I was hoping the immediate family would preserve them in antiquity or a museum even ... will contact Lenny and suss it out a bit.

Great night and I think Len Dibben did well as he deserves and he'd be pleased with the results.
Probably 90% of the boards were sold.
Bidding was exciting with bids from the floor (In person) and bids from those acting for others via mobile phones.
My pick the Wayne Lynch Involvement 8'er in perfect nik just kept going up...... out'a my range.
Lots of boards sold in the 3k and 4k and more marks.
Haydens, Gordon Woods, Len Dibben and Cordinglies all sold well.
These boards are hand made gems I just hope those who buy are surfers and not rich non surfers seeing nothing more than a chance to make even more money next time they sell.
The original shapers never get the spoils they deserve ...... good onya Len.....
