Just as well I'm not a politician... I'm crap at making new friends these days. Deep down I'm also shy, but I'm pretty good at p!ssing people off these days...
A Kids Birthday Party at 10am this morning... I met one of the mums... She works for ACF Australian Conservation Foundation. I tell her, this could be interesting because I estimate the cost of some big Mining and Oil & Gas Projects...
Her major interest project was James Price Point, near Broome, a project which has been rewarding to me financially...
I told her the site was a good choice, because the site wasn't the most precious piece of real estate on the Aussie Coast, plus it spreads the work away from Port Headland and Karatha which can barely handle any more workload... That revved her up a bit!! She tells me that a leading Engineering firm doing the environmental impact work, failed to identify it as a Bilby site. She noted that it is of significant cultural heritage... I told her they could just pay the elders several millions and that pain goes away pretty quickly, I can tell you... She didn't like that either!!
Then I said, "about the whales... I don't get that. Even though it is a breeding ground, there will be 3 pipelines along the ocean floor that the whales won't see... They will continue to breed... She was fuming by this stage... She tells me that if the whales disappear you can't bring them back... I told her that whales survived a killer long whaling period, so I'm pretty sure they will survive while 3 pipelines get laid...
Yep, no friends made today!!
Her solution was to use the existing pipelines down to Karatha and use the existing plants... (plant in this case is my word... A plant for her grows in the ground and needs preservation,

!)... I politely inform her that the pipelines are full and the plants are running at capacity, so the 3 new pipelines would still be needed, probably along an existing pipeline corridor... Plus a new process facility...
She also said WA is a cowboy state... And this time it was best for all parties to walk away... I told her that there are some very intelligent WA personnel working on major projects over there...
Good fun!
