I know that there will be some of you that'll be super excited to hear that the Mickey Munoz longboard range are, in part, available again in Australia !
The boards are available on both 11' and 12' (not 9'3 or 10'6) and constructed in the new Surftech TLPC construction.
I was lucky enough to get my hands on one of the first few to hit the east coast of NSW and thought I'd share some images and some thoughts.
The Munoz 11' in TLPC construction is in my opinion approx. 2/3 the weight of the previous Tuflite version.
The finish is a wet rub rather than gloss finish and feels bullet proof.
Having much loved both the 10'6 and 11' previously, I can say that the 11' shape remains true to the original template in my opinion (which is a relief that it wasn't tweaked) and the solid green or blue colour-way with black band look the goods.
On the water, the 11' was an absolute dream to prone paddle. It has slightly more float than the previous construction type and glides effortlessly....super fast.
On waves, the board felt totally 'alive' and 'springy'.....this board is just a pure enjoyment machine for lazy summer days which we have plenty of in front of us just now.
(I purchased mine via Stand Up Paddle Australia in Manly who are an authorised Surftech stockist).
the outline looks pretty much as it always did, but the tail looks a little wider than the 10'6", not by much, maybe just a half a coont hair, but then it could just be the camera angle.
Love my 10'6", had it stored up in the rafters for about 2 years, saving it for when I retire, pulled it down just this past weekend and took it out of the bag so I could copy the rail shape onto another board.
Just had a look at the Surftech site and the Shapers available are down to only 5 in the Longboard range..
I'm a bit out of touch with Surftech these days..although I still have one (BT109)..but 5 is a downsize from the shapers available some years back..what's the story ?
Hey mate, this board looks interesting. I do a fair amount of tandem surfing with my kids on a 9'6 log which is becoming a bit of a struggle as they are getting older and heavier. I also use a 12'6 race SUP to tandem surf with my wife.
I expect this would work quite well as a tandem option with the kids and as a bigger board to use when the swell is up and the current is running hard.
I'm assuming it is an epoxy so any thoughts on how it would go as a tandem board for 2 adult riders around 55-60 kg and 85 kg.

I think it would be ideal mate, there's also a 12' too.

Carrying it the width is there for sure but on waves, the pulled in planshape gives a feel of a much thinner board IMO.
Totally different to say the old 11' NSP which felt every bit 25' odd wide on the water.
It's a winner and having ridden a few 11 & 12 footers, nothing comes close to this shape IMHO.
Unreal feedback!! We have been a little blown away by how much interest there has been in these boards....
We sell the NSP's as well, different customer and purpose to these babies.
