Has to be the worst thing possible to happen, especially at late notice. You tend to really remember a good swell missed and despise the people who caused it, even if it not directly their fault and especially when they get to catch it and you dont....

I think when you feel that strongly about it you know your a wave addict be it SUPer, shortboarder or longboarder missing a good bit of swell is torture. I have just been advised I will miss the nice lump of swell due tomorrow morning....Gonna drink hard tomorrow night to drown my sorrows

Mate I just waved good bye to my wife and eldest daughter and the bastards just text me its 33 deg and the surf is on, oh yes they have just landed in Bali on a work trip. It was my doing as I have done a lot of trips lately and just wanted to miss this one, as I am a little over Bali atm.
Anyway, just as I wave them off, I think to myself you d-ck head you should be on that bus with board in hand

Sounds nasty, missing it cos of injury is hard as well, the mind is willing, the time is there....but the body wont allow it. I hurt my back a while ago and couldnt stand up surf but bodyboarding was ok so ended up doing that for about 6 months....that was tough going.

Fun when it was on shorebreak onshore (not good for the back either??) But murder when it was clean and long and all I could do was lie there and watch the wave peel along
