In my opinion take a 45min drive to Byron Bay and have a lesson at Black Dog surf school. You will get better and more fun instruction and much gentler and safer conditions.

What the Fk would you know coming from Tassie mate.

Hows it all going,is your little hound dog with you

All going great mate. the mutt is living the life of luxury with the Goddard family in Coffs Harbour and just loving it. Work is limiting my surf hours at the moment and the lack of daylight hours is certainly making it difficult to get a lot of time on the water. However what surf I am getting is really really nice and the local crew are a pretty nice bunch of guys and have been very welcoming - however we'lll see how nice they are after they get their arrses whipped in the comp' next weekend

Oh - the other stuff is going fantastic too and no regrets at all with the move south - very very happy old grommy

That is one very lucky little canine BB - getting a first hand look at Ron's beasts

Mate I'm too lazy to read through it all but biggest tip I can give you is no matter what you do, how diligent you are, you are going to stuff up at the start. Caught in the impact zone, looking like a fool in the whitewash, going over the falls.

The biggest thing is swallowing your pride, have a good laugh and get back on to it and have fun. A few months and things start clicking, a year or 2 and you really start getting into things.

Make friends with locals and the blokes on here. They as much as they go off on a tangent or take the piss out of each other, have surf wisdom beyond the imagination of which you could ever learn.
