As some of you know, it was my birthday last weekend. (Thanks for the wishes) I got to go out on Sunday while being a little hazy from Saturday night/Sunday morning partying. Anyways conditions were good and it was about 4-5 foot and it became quite apparent that my 8 footer and 9 footer arent the right boards for those waves. I got hammered and got out but would have been a bit easier on something a bit shorter. What would you guys reccomend. Thinking about the 6'8- 7 foot range that I can duck dive but still has volume as I am a crap surfer. Thinking something along the lines of a Bear Fat Arse Wombat or Miller Waterskate, those types of boards, any suggestions??

I can vouch for Grant Miller as I've had around half a dozen boards off him over the years. He shapes boards for people all over the place. He's got a website and you can phone him. Sounds like I'm pimping here but he's also a good mate and probably amongst the most decent straight forward bloke to deal with.

McHenry, you are not nearly drunk enough, nor is it late enough at night for you to be making these important decisions.

Speaking of Grant Miller, there's a cracker of a quote on his website: "He is lucky who, in the full tide of life, has experienced a measure of the active environment that he most desires. There is much to be said for a philosophy which aims at living a full life while the opportunity offers. There are few treasures of more lasting worth than the experiences of a way of life that is in itself wholly satisfying. Such, after all, are the only possessions of which no fate, no cosmic catastrophe can deprive us; nothing can alter the fact if for one moment in eternity we have really lived."
Eric Shipton, Upon that Mountain.
