Just wondering how everyone sees the issue regarding the sometimes bad vibe towards L/Boarders in a line up with other water craft.

I consider my self to be quite patient in a line up with various watercraft present, especially patient if it is crowded. I will usually get out the back and try and get one early to open the account and then will sit and suss it out a bit.

I dont chase down every set and call people off waves but still manage to get a bad vibe sometimes. More so when I paddle onto the wave earlier and other people cant cos the wave is too fat or they are on the shoulder.

If I get a good one I get back out and will let a few sets go just to keep the balance believing I am doing the right thing. Usually everyone goes for the first set after a lull which leaves a set with no one out there to grab it so I oblige and score a wave.

What does everyone else think?

Mate where I surf its great the shortboarders take off behind the rocks and the rest is full of longboarders mixed with some shortboarders. Only a gun longboarder would take off behind the rocks,so that counts me out
Depends where you surf I guess, I could surf 3 minutes from my house but I drive 20 minutes for the vibe and the best quality wave in town.

I do see the short guys from out of town thinking they are KS if I have any issue with them I suggest they move up the point and take off behind the rocks where the gun guys are charging.

Oh the new hate is sup's in the lineup, not from me I own one but the guys are getting p-ssed

I'm not good enough to be claiming waves so I give everyone and anything the right of way and just settle for the dregs.

I know perfectly well what would happen if I get shirty... the very next wave I would stuff up, do an almighty face plant on the board and everyone would be pissing their pants.

I did once have some snotty kid on a shorty have a go at me because he thought I was taking too long in the shallows to take off my leggy and wrap it around the tail before getting out of the water, I thought that was a bit uncalled for.

A wave hog is a wave hog - long or short. These guys P me off more than anything - particularly if they are the type to 'compete' and call for every slice of water that comes through...

I'm pretty mellow when I'm out surfing - thats why I surf if I wanted to get agro I'd go sit in traffic trying to get over the spit bridge.

I only get my feathers ruffled if people continually drop in on me (generally the same person).

Vibe around the Northern Beaches is generally pretty good there's a couple guys around Manly that I'll stay away from because they're not nice to surf around but generally every one around is OK.

Im an angry ant but try to chill in the surf. Same rule as boating, might is right. Get in the way of 3m of death and see what happens. Love the look on lids faces when they see the shadow come over their back and it aint the lip
