I actually have a surfing related thread for this forum

Gonna be at a wedding around end of March next year anyone got any tips on getting a wave around there? Will have a hire car and soft racks but have to be within a reasonable distance from the place we are staying.

Staying about 1km from the Pub. Will be looking to take over the 9'6 fireball which leads to my next question, how do I travel proof my board bag for the flight or do I have to have a travel bag specifically?

Surfed Gunnamatta same time last year on a 7ft fish and had a ball but swore I would bring my Mal next time.

Cant help you with the waves in that area however travel bag either a 5mm or be safer in a 10mm bag, take all the fins out before packing it

There are some softer point breaks inside Western Port. But Bells and Winki over on the other coast has more size and grunt!

Come midweek to minimize crowds :)

I call the other coast, the land of the right hand point break.

Beachies over at the greater Gunna stretch can have the pick under a small to medium swell, and N or NE winds. But a medium swell and W to NNW, the land of the long right handers is a safe bet.

Cheers Simondo, have never surfed Bells or Winki but watched a bit of the bells comp last year when I was over there. Geez that Great Ocean Road is something isnt it

Will probably be confined to the Eastern side as only have a small window to have a wave around the wedding. Might have to be Gunnamatta again, such a fun little set up there. Apparently it gets huge in Winter though [}:)]

It does get big in Winter....have a look near St Andrews heaps better setups than Gunna when there is a bit of swell on....you can catch the ferry across and hit bells if it gets real big
