The southern highlands are a bit away from my neck of the woods but if you’re ever near the northern beaches try to get word to me, I may be able to point you in the direction a few good nursery breaks.

The front of the lagoon at Longy or the stretch from Collaroy to south Narrabeen often have some easy breaks well away from others.

All of Manly and Freshwater have been completely taken over by pommy Backpackers and Japaneese students so you won’t look out of place there however there’s a good chance you’ll never find clean easy breaks.

On certain days the curl curl stretch can be good although the best breaks can be very local. For the same reason it’s good to avoid Dee Why and especially North Narrabeen. Unless of course you think you may possibly enjoy a 6ft thruster for a suppository.

To my mind the best mal break is the right at the northern end of Avalon, but that may only be because it’s got an outstanding rip and I’m too lazy to paddle. I never go there anymore because of the crowds and the fact that it’s out of my Shire so I don’t get free parking anymore.
