Anyone got any tips or suggestions on loosening up the rusted screws and little allen key bolts that hold the FCS fins in place on a board??????....Already started spraying them with WD40, just want to know if people have other ideas.

Try warmish water ?? Not to hot though as it may damage the FCS plugs and the glass

Make sure your FCS key is in good nick - they seem to be soft and will round easily. A standard allen key will provide more leverage... but yes - I'll be picking up an FCS tool myself this weekend.

Yeah, I've got several FCS tools, but the lugs just won't budge using the tool. Wont even budge using a proper allen key.

The centre fin is an FCS fin in a box channel and therefore also has a screw holding it in....That is rusted tight too.

I guess I will just have to keep soaking everything in wd40 and hope for the best.....Not so much of a problem now, but I need to get the fins off later this year to safely take the board on the plane to Hawaii.

WD-40 has a tendency to make some plastics expand slightly

Just got the FCS rachet tool this arvo - not sure about the EZ-out bit - looks a bit like some sort of cork-screwed drill bit. Can't quite work out how this would remove a stuck grub screw...

Does it bite the inside and essentially chew it up a bit on the way out?

Interesting though - I thought I'd done all my fins up tight with the normal small FCS key - and the troublesome one with a proper allen key... but I got at least another easy half turn with the rachet. Now I am more confident of not having any probs tomorrow

Thanks Mac - kinda thought it was a chew & bite job... far out drilling it out would be a prick of a job - you could easily screw up the plug thread and then you'd be off to the board repairer for sure.

thanks mac got all that, i thought the FCS tool was a tension wrench. where you cant over tighten the bolt.
i was told years ago to NEVER over tighten the screws.
