I never was a fan of swellnet always found there images fuzzy.Anyway my choice was coastalwatch which has a camera that pans which is great but sometimes you want a fixed view and a different angle so comes swellnet.

My issue is they now play an ad for 30 seconds before the real action comes up.

Yes as I wish to retire in Noosa I log on often and did note the ad's but nice wide screen tho.God I love that place

its the best... a tad inconsistent but just a great bay ...soooo when you retire in the waterfront apartment let me know, i know people that know people that have rum !

I'm sorry but I cant really make a for or against comment because I have never and will never use online forecasts/surfcams etc. If I have time to go for a surf I head off with that intention and if the surf is ok - I surf - if its crap - I go for coffee ( although have been known to go out regardless of how crap it is)

I'm the same as BB, I just go in no matter what it's like.

Some of my best surfs have been on days when no one in their right mind would want to go out.

Any excuse for coffee.

The BOM actually has a nice "unbiased" forecast...

Heading off without a forecast can lead you towards a complete waste of time and money... Even if the forecast looks average, you can at least have a half a plan when you set off... As minimum I check to see if the swell is "up to 1m", or "1-2m", or "2.5 to 3.5m".... So I know if I need to pack the guns / shooters or not...

Some days down here, the forecast is for big swell all day, and all day off shore.... So you can give it a miss until 10.30m, let every other sucker get a fill, and hit an uncrowded line-up for 2hrs, especially if it is Mon-Fri...

I've had some absolutely brilliant sessions working around the tides and forecast, and crowds!

Im with you billy boy.Depends if Im crawling or walking when I get up.As for surf cams I use them all the time as I live 45 mins away.If Im going to hit the traffic and surf crowds the surf needs to be half decent.Just like Stockton Sat morning 4foot top to bottom beach break for 300 metres nirvana.
