Warning...newbie questions ahead.

I am about to pick up a new board. Big short board, 6'10'' X 21 x 2 5/8
I'ts the first venture into sub 7ft territory.
Do I put a tail pad on it?? ... My 7.1 midlength thruster does not have one (nor do my mals)
(oh... I am a gumby surfer too...)

Help

I would argue that it helps you know when your foot is on top of your fins which makes it easier to turn! But, if not used to it and can turn without it then I wouldn't bother.
