We were sitting out the back, in my back yard on a beautiful summer evening, under the lush palm trees of North Avalon. We were into our 2nd beer, kicking the heels up. The sun has just disappeared, and the moon was already up. There were some fantastic little after work peelers at North Avalon....

Then Paul tells me about a funny little story from earlier in the day.... He was under a house in Palmie, doing some plumbing work for an older Jewish lady, and he stumbled across 2 unridden single fins.... He did his work, but at the end, he had to ask.... "What are you doing with those 2 surfboards under the house?"

She replied, "Oh, that's where they are! We bought those 2 boards for the boys one Christmas and we forgot where we put them!"....

Paul couldn't believe it... and asked if they were for sale... but they sadly the reply was "no, I'll give them to the boys as intended".

So we continued with our beers and stories, whilst not believing the unbelievable tale of two lost and unridden 1970's single fins.

Paul really enjoyed his summer in the bungalow in North Av. In fact, everyone enjoyed their time passing through our bungalow. We even used to have sleep out holidays in there sometimes, when it was free and available. But sadly, the last I saw of Paul was in Manly in Hospital, the detached part over by Manly Skiff Club, where he battled hard against the final stages of hereditary bowel cancer, just past his 40th birthday.

Tonight's beer is for Paul, and two unridden single fins.

Cheers mate.
