Mine was only about giving fins away for free...
Here you go Roy. I have a new 6'4 single fin shorty. It has four channels, the channels are more for drive and a bit of bite. It also has two small.flyers and a wide arse. I did this more to make it super loose, yet keep the single fin feeling?
Well i have tried numerous fins(7'upright fin the board was doing circles when heavy back foot pressure was applied. 9"dolphin went well and the board was super loose but had that nice drive. When I surfed it in bigger waves it was stiff, still pivoted quickly but felt locked in at speed. 10" alex knost flex fin, felt super buttery on bigger waves, yet seemed to have that delayed feeling off the top turns which is what I tried to.eradicate when I got this board shaped. It did however seem to be the best fin so far.
The sweet spot seems to be very small on this board,I'm thinking more user than board,as because it is so loose I tend to try surfing it very much like a multi fin board. Which is half of what I wanted,am I sounding mad yet?

So what fin could you come up.with for a hp single fin shorty. I will pay and will.review it,or you can send it for free since your rich and I'm a broke arse

I have so many option with this board, and have had some amazing surfs on it,yet I think it still needs a perfect fin...or two,one for smaller waves and another bigger one.
I will.say the small issues I have seem to dissapear on my backhand as i seem to keep more weight down on my back foot when surfing.
Thanks in advance

Thanks for the offer.. and yes as mad as a hatter.
The flex fin issues ( the delay and problems in bigger waves) are typical, the upright fin seems a bit too small and is possibly too far forward. Thin foils also have issues. Fin size should reduce as wave size increases but it's possible to have one size for all conditions. The 10" is proabably too big for the bigger waves.
A bit of trial and error might be needed, we have Spitfires and Gull Wings at present in many sizes and with different foil options.
So, how about buying one or two and then swapping for free to try others if required? I'll do a discount as well, via PM.
Where to start if you want to go ahead? Size wise I'd start with 8.5" in either GW or spitfire, an E168 foil will be good.
The Spitfire will have no delay and won't lock in, with the right size, foil and positioning it should be fine. The Gull Wing has some flex but with the raked tip it's more in the correct plane, also it can be used smaller than your dolphin and knost fins so won't start to lock you in in bigger stuff. BLEF keeps them lifting well at all times so reduces anomalies, some of which could be because the thinly foiled fins are going into pre stall... this causes lack of control, vagueness and loss of drive.
Foil wise the NACA16-012 type is what I've been using for the past 20 years ( on boards 6' to 17') they are fast and precise. Eppler168 has the thickness more forward and is very forgiving and able to turn very tightly. Eppler's foils are mathematically derived and in spite of being a tad thicker the leading edge is quite fine, it's definitely a winner. RAE102 is between the two and is the kind of foil found on well foiled commercial and pro fins.
